There are no words to say what we all have witnessed. Life is such
a strange journey. Here are some photos of this wonderful place. Since my family goes back to 1915 in Edgemere & Far Rockaway, this is very sad to me, and to all that love this spot called home. I feel these photographs are now a part of the Rockaways even if I don’t want them to be. God Bless all the people who have suffered and lost so much. And to all those souls who lost their lives. We all pray for them and their families. .

It was a sad day for many….. history and many losses !
I live on Beach 117th Street (beach block). I live on the ground floor in a condo that was completely wiped out. I was in Sicily when Sandy hit but my sister and BIL who live next door to me found themselves in 4-1/2 feet of water. By the grace of God, the upstairs neighbors took them in but both our condos were destroyed I kept in touch by phone and the rest of my trip was ruined until I got home and saw for myself. The only thing left of my belongings were in the suitcase I took with me. I posted pictures on facebook of the destruction I lived through having the gut the condo to the studs. Lost the car also. Lived with relatives for seven months.
